“Because of EndSARs, I was arrested in my boxers, locked underground and the police denied taking me”
How Eromz is fighting for a better Nigeria in his lifetime
On the 7th of November, 2020, Eromz was arrested and detained for participating in the #EndSARS protest. The police denied taking him. They wanted him to disappear. Fortunately, they didn’t get away with it as a friend of his recorded the arrest, and his tweets raised awareness across social media. This led to a wide outcry from Nigerians for his release. Eromz went through a series of brutalities, from manipulative police interrogations to sleeping in jail and being secretly moved to shady and seemingly unofficial court proceedings.
After his ordeal, he has remained in the country, making a positive impact through several initiatives and advocacy efforts. He currently runs ABENOL (A Better Nation in Our Lifetime), a nonprofit geared at promoting political awareness and participation among young Nigerians.
He shared his story with us on the pod, and it’s such a powerful one. Hope you enjoy this episode!!!
